AST Announces a new Community of Practice

The AST is excited to announce that after an extensive search for a “home,” transplant administrators have opted to organize under the umbrella of the American Society of Transplantation (AST). The AST has agreed to establish a Transplant Administrators’ Community of Practice (CoP) that will represent and serve the individuals responsible for the administration and management of transplant programs, as well as, individuals with responsibility for transplant center managed care contracting, financial oversight and quality management. This CoP will ultimately support, develop and advance the knowledge and practice of Transplant Administration and help shape the future of transplantation by:

  • Providing educational resources and forums to exchange ideas
  • Providing a united voice for addressing government/regulatory, professional, fiscal and clinical concerns
  • Advocating for transplant patients and professionals through the development of workforce standards and benchmarks
  • Strengthening the groups’ image as recognized experts in strategic areas of transplantation

We encourage all AST members to approach your institution’s transplant administrators to join. If you and/or your transplant administrator are interested in becoming a member of the AST Community of Practice for Transplant Administrators, please complete the online form. Non AST members can join the CoP for a six-month trial basis. At the end of the trial period, they must join the AST in order to continue participation in the CoP.
